If you use a chimney starter, propane starter, Minion Method, or just have patience you can probably stop reading here. However, if you approach your barbeque with reckless abandon and have a touch of pyromania, read on….
When I light up the coals I use LOTS of lighter fluid, not for any reasons of efficiency, but just because I love a big ball of fire. To get the fire raging I fan the flames with the tool that is the best, and always at hand - the lid of my Weber. After using (misusing?) the lid this way for years the handle gets a bit wobbly. I should point out of course that I mean no disrespect to the good people at Weber, surely they did not anticipate this activity. Anyhoo, after a couple more years the handle snapped off on one side. To remedy this, I simply drilled a hole on each of the two connection points and bolted that sucker right back on.
